📃 the texting and driving essay structure, 🏆 best texting and driving topic ideas & essay examples, 📌 most interesting texting and driving topics to write about, 👍 good research topics about texting and driving, ❓ questions about texting and driving.

A texting and driving essay requires a unique approach because it is not merely an academic take on an important subject.

Your paper’s goal is to prevent people from taking a particular course of action, which will harm them, their passengers, and even innocent bystanders.

Thus, from your title to your conclusion, your argument must be easy to apperceive, just as any possible advice that you may give should be easy to follow.

Begin your topic by drafting a texting and driving essay outline and thesis statement, which will later become your structural backbone.

During this process, you need to keep in mind your primary goal; assess each sentence you write with your pre-defined argument and how it may help support your central theme.

For example, you can mention the statistics of road accidents induced by phone-related circumstances and the mechanism behind distracted driving. You can even cite the law on using cell phones and driving.

After you have decided on your main points, do some research on each, amassing a thorough bibliography, which will help convince your readers of your position’s soundness and ethicality.

Book titles are essential but do not forget to search for scientific research that relates to your central theme. Integrating vivid examples from studies on texting and driving may help you sway even the most obstinate of readers.

Furthermore, you can draw inspiration from researchers’ structural choices, especially if you feel like their outline was part of why their argument felt convincing to you personally.

Finally, if you feel like your paper is still lacking something inexplicable, read sample essays online. Doing so will help you see for yourself what techniques do and do not work when convincing a broad audience.

During the body-writing process, remove any ideas that do not relate to your texting and driving essay thesis.

If you are talking about the dangers of texting and driving, then drunk driving is not a useful addition to your essay. To maintain a well-planned essay structure, your writing should be:

  • Factual and supported by research;
  • Logically interconnected;
  • Memorable and expressive;
  • With no unrelated topics.

Your texting and driving essay conclusion should bring together all of your points into a single paragraph. In this section, you have to summarize your findings and their implications for your readers explicitly, especially for those who partake in such dangerous practices.

If you feel like your argument is especially compelling, then you may even try to convince your audience to take on the role of spreading information about the dangers of texting and driving themselves. After all, it does affect even pedestrians.

Therefore, appealing to the fact that it may alter the life of any person, who is unfortunate enough to be close to a distracted driver, may be the main idea of your paper.

Finally, there is the matter of choosing your title. Texting and driving essay titles should immediately give your readers an idea of what they will encounter in your work and what kind of knowledge they will gain from it.

Be honest, but do not be afraid to write an attention-catching title. There is nothing academically worse than writing a well-structured and thought-out essay that readers overlook because it lacks a catchy title.

Outline Worksheet for Persuasive Speech

Monroe’s Motivated Sequence

Topic: Texting and Driving

Title: IT CAN WAIT

Speaker: Sadef Shaikh

Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to not text while driving

Thesis Statement: Texting while driving is taking unnecessary lives of young ones throughout the nation, becoming one of the leading cause of preventable death in America.

INTRODUCTION

I. Attention Step: If your texting, you’re not driving.

A. Attention Getter: Imagine for a moment. The worst car crashes you ever seen or heard of. Imagine the smoke, the skid marks, and the shattered glass. Imagine the metal from the car, twisted and torn to wear you can’t recognize the car anymore. Off in the distance you hear a siren approaching, responding to a 911 call. Moments later you hear there are fatalities. A mother, father, and child. This has become a problem in America and its called, texting while driving.

B. Introduce topic and relevancy to the audience: Why does this effect you and me? Well it’s because 20 years ago this wasn’t a problem. More importantly, as members of the society who drive automobiles, texting while driving effects each one of you. You might say well I don’t text and drive. The fact is even if you don’t text and drive the person next to you may. We must urge this upcoming generation to identify there is a problem and put a stop to texting while driving.

C. Establishment of Ethos: I have credibility in talking about this subject because I am guilty of doing this, and have seen many friends, text while driving.

D. Thesis Statement: Texting while driving is taking unnecessary lives of young ones throughout the nation, becoming one of the leading cause of preventable death in America.

Transition: Allow me to introduce, my first main point.

II. Need Step

A. Main Pont # 1 We live in a society where technology is on our fingertips and too many people feel that they must react instantly.

  • We have all done this. Your phone goes off while driving and its sitting there, in the cup holder, buzzing in your pocket, or worse, its already in your hand.

a. Immediately you feel the urge to look at it. Who could it be? Who is thinking of me? And when that moment of curiosity takes over you, you see the text and you decide I must reply.

b. Right there you have made the choice to be a distracted driver and put your life and the drivers next to your car, life at risk.

C. And for what? To reply “LOL”, or “OMG”, or even TTYL.

  • About 5,000 people die each year because of being distracted while operating their automobile.

a. It is estimated that is takes 5 seconds to reply to a text.

b. David Hosansky, author of CQ Researcher's Distracted Driving: Should Driver Texting and Cellphone Use Be Banned, said, “texting drivers took their eyes off the road for each text an average of 4 seconds -- which at 55 mph, means they were driving the length of a football field without looking”.

c. It doesn’t take long before that text can become the cause a loss of yourself, your loved one, or someone you know. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates “that of all drivers under age 20 involved in fatal crashes, 16 percent were distracted”.

  • Ignoring these statistics will lead to unnecessary deaths of loved ones. About 5, loved ones, each year of we don’t start recognizing the effects texting and driving has.

Internal Summary: As you can see this has become a very serious issue and must not be taking lightly.

This leads me to my next point. What are some ways this problem can be solved?

III. Satisfaction Step

A. Main Point #2 Texting while driving should be less accessible, making it less likely for accidents.

  • To begin with phones should be less accessible while driving. Phones should be silenced and put out of reach of the driver.

a. By doing this there will be a less chance of having the urge to look at your phone.

b. Drivers should download an app, that prevents texting while driving and install blocking software that prevents people from texting while driving.

  • Plan of Action: All states should make it less accessible to access your phone while driving by passing laws that ban texting while driving.

a. Although many states have passed laws prohibiting texting while driving, not all states have done this. Currently, no state bans all cell phone use for all

  • I also urge you to talk to your family’s members. You wouldn’t allow them to drive drink so don’t let them text and drive.

C. Don’t let them text and drive, it can wait, and it’s just not worth it.
